Grand Masters Christmas Message

District Grand Masters' Christmas Message 2019

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

There is a favourite Christmas song that was pinned by Glen Campbell and it says that "Christmas is for children just for children grown up's save" and other part to the song say "Christmas is for children but we all children".

As adults, we constantly look back at our Christmases long ago and remember how we looked forward to opening our gifts just as children do today. Those people long ago looked forward to that "Child", the gift that was promised and they too reflected on that day when the news reached their ears that the Gift had arrived.

During this Christmas period as I reflect on our District, I can say that I am indeed happy when I see the development of our junior Brothers and Sisters, the dedication of some and the assistance afforded to us by the College of Past Grand Masters. Our District has been extremely active this year, as we seek to bring about positive changes that aid in our continual development and the standardisation of how we conduct our general business.

With the many changes we are facing today and the challenges, which have impacted our membership, I continue to give thanks to the Great Architect of the Universe for guiding us through another year and allowing us to stay on the course.

This season is a time of love and giving. We must remember that they are those less fortunate than us; several organisations reach out at this time of the year to spread joy and to put a smile on the face of an adult or a child.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life, he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. In other words, a huge gift comes to you by his poverty. The meaning of Christ’s stooping to become man was to raise up mankind to glory.

As Mechanics we have to allow our light to shine so that others can see how we as Mechanics ought to live; so during this period, let us reflect on the Christ gift which was given to us; this gift which continues to shine. Just as Christ did for those in need so too can each of us in whatever way we can.

As we look forward to the year 2020 and as we renew our obligations inwardly; let us allow peace and harmony to be our principle guide, like the bundle of sticks; let's band together for a single cause; let the strong bear the infirmities of the weak and together united we can be a gift to each other.

May the joy of Christmas penetrate our hearts and may this Christmas be one of change.

On behalf to the District I want to wish you the very best for the season and may God continue to bless this Craft.

Humbly Yours,

Grand Master, Patrick
